03 Kodak-Gold 200

I’ve been wanting to explore more film stocks now that I’ve gotten to get Portra a chance. I know its basic but I feel like it gave me a good starting place to see what latitude I had in terms of what kind of results I could get.

While I enjoyed the results that came from Portra it realized that its pretty expensive to get a couple rolls and then have them developed. A 5 pack costs about $55.00 on B&H and then it costs me another $10.00 per roll locally to get them developed. (This is a great rate and I do want to give a shout-out to my local filmlab, @fortwaynefilmlab, for being a huge asset in this whole process. I drop them off and usually get the scans back within 2 days.) That being said its still not cheap and I can start to understand why having a professional photographer back then was so important.

The aspect of film that consistently amazes me is the highlight roll off. That is something that I’ve been trying to replicate in my edits but it is really hard. Kodak-Gold doesn’t have quite the fidelity I’m used to but it definitely is more than capable in capture beautiful images.
